Karuppa Gounder Palanisamy is known as Edappadi K. Palaniswami because of the village he is born in, Edappadi. Palaniswami has won the assembly election to the state assembly four times, in 1989, 1991, 2011 and 2016 in the Edapadi constituency, which is his native village. He is currently serving as the 7th CM of Tamil Nadu representing the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He became the leader of the party in 2017 after the conviction of V.K. Sashikala.

ஐயா என் பெயர் M. சூரிய பிரபா. நான் விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டம் திருவெண்ணைநல்லூர் தாலுக்காவில் வசித்து வருகிறேன். நான் M.sc முதுநிலை பட்டதாரி ஆவேன். என் கணவர் திரு.
