Radha Krishna Mathur was born on November 25, 1953, in Uttar Pradesh. He went to IIT Kanpur for his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. For his Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering he went to IIT Delhi. He also has a degree in MBA from International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE), Ljubljana, Slovenia. He married Mrs Poonam Mathur in 1980 with whom he had two children.
He is a retired IAS officer of Tripura cadet from 1977 batch. He is also the Defence Secretary of India. He also served his duties for both the Tripura Government and the Union Government. Formerly he was also the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of India. He took oath as CIC of India on January 5, 2018. Currently, he is serving as the 1st Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh by Honourable President of India on October 25, 2019, but he formally took oath on October 31, 2019.
