Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu is an Indian politician and currently serving as the Vice President of India.
He is also in the office of Rajya Sabha from 11 August 2017. Naidu was also a cabinet minister in the Modi Government served at different ministries. He is a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and worked as the national president for the party from 2002 to 2004. He was Cabinet Minister under the Government of Bihari Vajpayee. He swore as the Vice president of India on 11 August 2017 and also become the member of the Rajya Sabha the upper house of the Parliament. He served as the president of the Indian Institute of Public Administration and Council of World Affairs as well as the Chancellor in the Delhi University, Pondicherry University, Panjab University.

Education & Personal Life
Venkaiah Naidu was born on July 1, 1949, in Chavatapalem in District Nellore of state Madras, now the state is in Andhra Pradesh. His father’s name is Rangaiah Naidu and mother’s name Ramanamma. Naidu went to Parshad High School, Bucchireddy Palem (Nellore), and got diploma studies and a degree in politics from V. R. College, Nellore. Naidu has a degree in law from Andhra University College of Law, Visakhapatnam. from He was a Swayamsevak in RSS and later joined ABVP during his college days. The movement Jai Andhra was led by the Kakani Venkata Ratnam from Vijayawada and Naidu took active participation in the agitation in Nellore and came to the limelight.
Naidu took initiative and fought against corruption by being the convener of the anti-corruption Jayaayaprakash Narayan Chhatra Sangharsh Samiti of state Andhra Pradesh. The protest was taken to the streets against the emergency and Naidu was imprisoned. Venkaiah Naidu remained as the president of its youth wing from 1977 to 1980.
Political Career
Naidu has a great interest in Politics and become a student leader and later on a famous public figure. He actively analyzed the situation of the farmers as well as the people of the weaker section. Naidu’s active participation and skills led to the foundation of his political career. He was elected as the MLA from the Udaygiri constituency in the Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh for Legislative assembly. And not for once but twice in 1978 as well as 1983. He became one of the most loved BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh.
He served at various posts being a member of the Bharatiya Janta party not only at state but also at the center level. He was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha in the year 1998 from Karnataka. Unlike the other politician, Naidu took initiatives to master Hindi, in order to address the public rallies in northern India.
With the BJP won in the election of 2014, he became the minister of Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs becoming the most prominent member in Prime Minister Modi Cabinet.
Social works
Naidu also has active participation in the social service organization, namely Swarna Bharat Trust which was founded by him in Nellore. The Naidu trust works for poor people, stranded and special children and individuals of the more vulnerable areas by giving them employment with special training initiatives, particularly for ladies and youngsters.
Ascent to Vice Presidency
Venkaiah Naidu was nominated by the BJP for the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan on 29 May 2016 and was elected. On 5 July 2016, he simultaneously became the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Later on, he left both the workplaces to fight the election of Vice-president in the year 2017. He won the political race to turn into India’s fifteenth Vice President by getting 516 votes against UPA competitor Gopalkrishna Gandhi.
